When To Shut Your Mouth

When is it time for borough officials to own up to their mistakes?  When they have made them.  When is it time for them to shut their mouths?  When others are speaking.  When is it time to vote out officials from their office?  NOW!

Chip Gazzerro as council president needs to understand that he cannot bully people because his council seat is not his own personal bully pulpit, but that is what he uses it for, to bully people.  Tonight for the first time several council members stood up to him and called him on the carpet for using Downingtown Borough as his own little fiefdom.  Nick Winkler made it perfectly clear that council listens to other arms of the borough sometimes without even talking about it, but when it comes to the Historic and Parks Commission Chip Gazzerro has been heard saying if he doesn't like that commissions recommendation he will just change the ordinance.

Mayor Josh Maxwell's job is very limited in scope yet he constantly oversteps his bounds.  He would like to residents to think that he has nothing but the good of the borough in his thoughts and actions, however he ran against Becky Corbin for State Rep and we will be redistricted in 2014 and it is well known that he will campaign to fill that State position.  He will be campaigning at a crucial time in our borough and he will not be interested in the residents unless he can count on their votes for Harrisburg.

So on Tuesday when it comes time to vote you as the voter and resident need to consider these things.  Do wish for a Mayor who is only using you as a stepping stone or one that really cares about you and has no aspirations for higher office so dedication will not be an issue?  Do you also want a council member who feels it is within his rights to speak down to and bully other council members because he has a gavel and a title.  Twelve years is long enough.  Even diapers need to be changed to avoid the smell.

  1. 1. Chip Gazzerro IS a bully and he definitely uses the Council President's seat to interrupt one council member when that person has anything to say. He definitely seemed to enjoy his deliberate and timely interruptions during Council member Ann Feldman's comments.

    2. Chip Gazzerro, while superficially helping the residents of the Borough has been shamelessly using 'position of power' to offend as many residents as possible.

    3. Chip Gazzerro definitely needs to go.as in get voted OFF Borough Council.

    4. Josh Maxwell, as the mayor and overseer of the police department, seems to have augmented his lowly position to something that it is not.

    5. Josh Maxwell has deliberately set up events that could easily interfere with other events that have been planned for and done for many years.

    6. Josh Maxwell, after failing Widener Law, took up courses in political science and business management.

    7. Josh Maxwell, with his lack of profundity, is seen as an embarrassment by many on the political scene.

    8. Josh Maxwell, as seen by many residents, is a puppet to the developers. He has done little to support appropriate growth of the Borough of Downingtown.

    9. Because of their resentment toward ONE person, Josh Maxwell, Chip Gazzerro and others on the current council - plus others from the previous council - have deliberately helped to destroy the beauty of the Borough.

  2. Just a group of people with overinflated egos and delusions of grandeur. Nobody cares about them except the developers who cozy up to them so they can make money. As soon as they get their cash, they'll move on to the next bozo, stroke his ego a while, and get what they want from him, leaving a trail of urban sprawl, floods, traffic gridlock, and unfulfilled promises of lower taxes in their wake. The reason they keep getting elected is that few in town care what's going on in the borough unless they are friends with the council member him/herself. Sad but true. Get ready, folks. Downingtown will be the new Delaware County before you know it-devoid of all the charm and character it once had, and we can blame greed, ego and voter apathy for it.

And the mayor? Any council meeting I've ever attended, he sat up there acting like a buffoon, smirking and squinting and fidgeting like a 3 year old. All that's missing is a beanie with a propeller on his head. He'd be an embarrassment to the borough if anyone bothered to actually go see it for themselves.
